How Much Will Bitcoin be Worth in the Future?
The process of halving in Bitcoin affects the number of Bitcoin tokens found in a newly created block. In 2008, every freshly mined Bitcoin block contained 50 BTC. In the Bitcoin white paper, Satoshi devised a formula by which the number of BTC tokens, present in a mined block, halves approximately every four years. Since 2008, we’ve seen three halving events (November 28, 2012; July 9, 2016; and May 11, 2020). Currently, a block only contains 6.25 BTC. After the next halving occurs, each block will have only 3.125 BTC. Bitcoin index Bitcoin had roughly 99% of the crypto market cap share when it was first launched in 2009. Four years later, Bitcoin had a dominance of 94%, as there were only a handful of altcoins that competed with it in the market.
